Internship
Patrícia
Paixão, a Portuguese 23
year-old student at the time she interned at A.R.T. and Jackfruit
Research and Design was inspired by her interest in India, art, culture
and obviously, a tip of adventure when she applied for an internship as
part of her MA in Euroculture, Erasmus Mundus Programme. Although some
might have questioned what does India or an art and design trust and
library have to do with Euroculture, the answer would be that it was
rewarding in that sense and beyond. In A.R.T. and Jackfruit
Patrícia was able to have a theoretical experience of how Europe
influenced Indian art and how the Western-Eastern relations still
continue in this area, how the cultural institutional process works in
India (the difference between being in Bangalore, Mumbai or New Delhi).
Fortunately, through A.R.T. and Jackfruit's events there was a chance
to have a close contact with all of these realities. Working more
directly in the area of events management it allowed her to have the
practical experience of dealing with an audience, presenting a
discussion, contacting artists and people related to design and art or
even being interviewed for the local newspaper! At the same time, she
was able to explore the wonderful library for her final MA thesis. She
met amazing colleagues that supported her and made her feel like at
home. All in all, a more than positive experience which she will never
forget."

research and writing for the blog, “The Other Others”.
